Another year has flown by and it’s time for our Annual General Meeting so to celebrate this, we are hosting a number of events on the same day which we hope will cater for all audiences!

The day will kick off  at 12.30pm with a Guided Tour of the Deaf Village for an hour and then a light lunch will be provided for those attending AGM and Deafhood Taster Workshop.

At 2pm, our AGM will kick off. Please read on for important information about our AGM below and the changes that will happen to the board.

At 3.30pm, guest speaker Teresa Lynch will be presenting a snippet about Deafhood and briefly explain what it means. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have about Deafhood and there will be a chance for you to register yourself for a full Deafhood workshop in the future.

AGM INFORMATION – IMPORTANT

Positions Available on the IDYA Board:
We have 6 positions available on our board, they are; Treasurer, Secretary and 4 new Board Members. If you are interested, please attend the AGM on the day to present your reasons why you want to be nominated, however if this is not possible, you can email the board with your nomination in written English or ISL  along with a reason and why you would like this position. This video will then be shown at the AGM or if you have submitted your entry in written English, a nominated IDYA board member will translate this to the audience.

Constitution Changes:
As most of you may know, the age of the IDYA is current 18 – 35. Prior to 2006, the age range was 18 – 30 however this was increased to 35. The current IDYA board 2011-2012 would like to reduced this age limit back to 18 – 30.

This is a major constitution change and to have your say, for or against, you must be present at the AGM so you can vote in the election. If the motion is elected in, the IDYA will still be 18 – 35 from October 2012 but after next year’s AGM in October 2013, the IDYA will no longer be 18 – 35.
