WAM – Paid Work Placements with ESB & Abbott Ireland

The AHEAD WAM Programme now has 10 work placement opportunities available for graduates with disabilities with ESB & Abbott Ireland. The placements are for a full time working week, are paid, mentored and for a period of 6 months. The placements are available across a variety of disciplines and in the following companies: ESB (Dublin) & Abbott Ireland (Tipperary).

What is WAM?

WAM (Willing Able Mentoring) is an initiative of AHEAD funded by the Department of Social Protection. AHEAD (the Association for Higher Education Access and Disability) is an independent non-profit organization working to promote full access to and participation in further and higher education for students with disabilities and to enhance their employment prospects on graduation.

Where and what are the work placements?

Abbott Ireland, Clonmel, Tipperary has 5 placement opportunities.

  • HR Assistant
  • Manufacturing Technician
  • Purchasing/Planning Assistant
  • Quality Technician
  • Training Specialist

ESB Ireland, Dublin has 5 placement opportunities in;

  • Office Administration
  • Law
  • Engineering
  • Business

Can I apply?

If you have the following, then you can apply!

  • Have a disability/specific learning difficulty; i.e. you are deaf
  • Have no job at the moment.
  • Finished college with minimum Level 6 qualifications.
  • Be ready for a full-time work placement

What happens after I apply?

  • The company will look at your CV;
  • If they select your CV, then will give you an interview;
  • You will then be shortlisted for a position;
  • The company may hold second round interviews;
  • The successful candidate will be offered a position;
  • They then will assess you to see what you will need before you start work. The offer of a placement is on the condition that a successful needs assessment is conducted.

The process will take about 2 months.
